Richard Cobos, a retired, long-time resident of Scottsbluff, NE, died unexpectedly of heart failure on March 27th, 2020 at the age of 70.
Richard is survived by his wife, Rosie Cobos (Mata); his children, Richard Jr., Rebecca, and April Rose Cobos; his grandchildren, Jaime, Emilio, and Maya Cobos, and Arthur, Elias, and Ava Almaraz; siblings, Angel, Frank, Patricia, Merced, David, and Phillip Cobos; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by parents Saulo and Inocencia Cobos; siblings, Arthur, Anthony, and Rudy Cobos; Rebecca Marabilla, and Linda and Julie Ramirez.
Richard was born in Fresno, California on January 29, 1950 to farmworkers Saulo and InocenciaCobos. He moved to Western Nebraska to raise his family in 1982. Richard was a gifted actor, author, artist, musician, songwriter, and passionate political advocate for the working poor. He was a loving husband and was highly devoted to his family, who was the joy of his life to his dying day.
Richard believed in hard work, from building his home with his own hands, to serving the community in his retirement years. A man of many talents and dreams, when not hard at work, Richard was busy being creative. His favorite projects were writing, recording, and performing music with his beloved wife, Rosie. Along with being a musician, he was an avid writer, having penned several novels throughout the years. It is his family’s intentions that his unfinished novel, Mexica, will be completed and published in the near future.
