OBITUARY: Robert E. Strecker of Scottsbluff

Robert E. Strecker, 84, of Scottsbluff, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at Monument Rehabilitation and Care Center in Scottsbluff.   A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date.  Jones Mortuary in Mitchell is assisting with arrangements

Robert Eugene “Bob” Strecker was born June 7, 1935 to George and Marie (Maul) Strecker in Lyman. He was the oldest of four children.  He graduated from Torrington High School in 1953.  Robert attended college one year at Scottsbluff Junior College and then returned home to the family farm near Henry.  Robert married Ruth Ingraham October 30, 1958.  The couple had three children:  Marlyce, Keith, and Willene.  Robert farmed near Henry & Morrill and later near Lyman until 1985.  He then had a variety of jobs until his retirement.  Robert and Ruth lived near Minatare in later years.  Robert enjoyed fishing and reading; he enjoyed watching movies with Ruth.  Robert loved his family.

Robert is survived by his wife Ruth; daughters Marlyce (Kim) Burkey of Scottsbluff and Willene (Scott) Kummer of Hastings; grandchildren Travis (Ashley Kessler) Burkey of Melbeta, Amanda (Mike) Kanzler, Emily (Joseph Hernandez) Burkey, and Shane Burkey of Scottsbluff; and great grandchildren Liam Barker, Quinn Burkey, and Carter and Kadance Kanzler.

Robert was preceded in death by his son Keith; parents; brothersKenneth and Roger; and sister Georgia Ann.
