OBITUARY: Ruth Arlene Taylor Masid

Funeral services for Ruth Arlene Taylor Masid, age 91, of Scottsbluff, NE, who died Friday, January 8, 2021, at Skyview Care Center in Bridgeport, NE, will be held Saturday, January 16 at 10AM at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Scottsbluff with Father Mark Selvey officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed online for those unable to attend in person. Visitation will be Friday at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel from 4-7 pm.

Ruth was born November 8, 1929, to Jesse Homer and Edith Alta (Musick) Taylor in Scottsbluff, NE, she grew up and was educated in Scottsbluff. She married Sammy J Masid on December 1, 1946 at St. Andres Episcopal Church. Six children were born to this union. 

Family was the most important thing in Ruth’s life. She was active in all of her children’s school activities. She enjoyed being president of the PTA, home room mother, band parent, Cub Scout leader, 4-H and Brownie leader. 

She was a member of the Episcopal Church and was on the Altar Guild, a Sunday school teacher, and an usher. She enjoyed playing bridge, being a member of the Red Hat Society, swimming exercises, gardening, and attending to her beautiful flowerpots. She and Sammy loved to travel and took many trips to different countries. 

Ruth is survived by her sons, Sam Masid III of Morrill, NE, Mark Masid of Jackson Hole, WY, Mike Masid of Scottsbluff, Joe (Tammy) Masid of Scottsbluff, and daughter, Shelly (Randy) Kindvall of Scottsbluff; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. 

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Sammy; daughter, Katherine; sisters, Mildred, Gertrude, and Mae; brothers, Everett, George, and Gene.
