Val was born to William ‘Curt’ and Lynn (Prickett) Gibb on February 14, 1985 in Scottsbluff, NE.   She shared this with her twin brother Quentin.    She graduated from Chappell High School in 2003.  She married Dustin Fankhauser, January 29, 2005 in Lyman, NE and to this union were born Marissa, Grace and Hunter.  Dustin and Val knew each other from elementary school and found each other in the same room for the first time in many years, they never looked back from that moment.  It was the instant love at first sight at the most random timing.  Dustin loved her more than anything and will see her beautiful soul again.  Her children were her life and she took so much joy in being a mother.  Her children will miss her dearly.

Val Attended WNCC and Chadron State College and received her Associates of “Arts in 2016 and her Bachelor of Science in Education in 2018. She accomplished this being a wife and mother of three.  Receiving her degree was important to her and she worked hard to attain it.  She ran an in-home daycare for many years, she loved children so much.  As a daycare provider, a GGSA softball coach or whatever it may have been, when she could teach and have fun she jumped on it.  She was a kid at heart.  She was hired as a teacher at Community Christian School where she could teach and share the gospel.  Her faith and spreading God’s word was very important to her.  She loved and cherished her students, the parents and the staff.  They were all her friends.  She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Scottsbluff and served as a teacher for children in church.   Val was a beautiful, caring and self-less, loving, funny, kind, and joyful and just an exceptional woman.  She loved to hunt and fish, go camping, dancing, singing, holidays, her kid’s school functions, sports, and just being a friend.  She did everything with a happy heart, a laugh, and a smile.  She never saw a glass half-full or half-empty only that it could be refilled.  Her trust and faith Christ kept the glass full.  Be a bucket sharer she would say, give from yourself and you will be fulfilled.

Val is survived by her husband Dustin and their children Marissa, Grace, and Hunter all of Gering; mother and stepfather Lynn and Dan Bailey of Castle Rock, CO; stepmother Lynette Gibb Swanson of Ogden, UT; maternal grandfather Howard Keith Pickett Sr. of Mitchell NE; twin brother Quentin (Samantha) Gibb of Richland, WA; sisters Katy (Kyle) Fody of Lingle WY., Mindy (Mike) Anderson of Wakefield, KS and Lyndsey Golden of Ogden, UT; nieces and nephews T.J.
