GERING – Jamie Meisner, owner of The Mixing Bowl Cafe in Gering, didn’t know much about the Suspended Coffees movement until a few years ago when she started seeing Facebook posts about a Suspended Coffees board at Cappuccino and Company in Scottsbluff.
The idea behind the national Suspended Coffees movement is that a customer can purchase an advanced cup of coffee for someone else who needs it, no matter the reason. Meisner thought it was a fantastic idea.
“I just thought, ‘Wow, that’s a really cool way to pay it forward,’” she said.
Meisner wanted to do something similar at The Mixing Bowl Cafe.
“We thought the Suspended Coffees movement was a great idea, and we wanted to expand on that idea here to include food since we are a restaurant,” she said. “People can buy an extra drink for someone, or they can buy an extra meal for somebody to use with no questions asked.”
The Suspended Coffees board at The Mixing Bowl Cafe started in January 2016. The board is currently filled with a wide range of items, from drinks to bakery goods to meals that include a side item, such as French fries, side salads, and sweet potato fries.
