Showing support for veterans at The Roasted Mug

Kim Soto has always been passionate about supporting veterans, which is why she began selling Black Rifle Coffee Company coffee and other items when she opened her business in Morrill in July 2018. Black Rifle Coffee Company is owned and operated by veterans, and their products continue to be popular at The Roasted Mug.

MORRILL – When Kim Soto was getting ready to open her coffee shop, The Roasted Mug Coffee Bar, in Morrill in July 2018, one of her friends made a suggestion.

“She said, ‘You should sell Black Rifle coffee at your business,’” Soto said. “She had tried it and really liked it and thought it was a great company because it supports veterans.”

Soto was intrigued, so she did some research on Black Rifle Coffee Company, which is a coffee roaster based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. What really caught Soto’s attention is when she read that Black Rifle Coffee Company is entirely owned and operated by former members of the United States armed forces.

The company, which started in 2014, supports not only veterans but also law enforcement and first responders. Black Rifle Coffee Company donates a portion of the money it receives from each item it sells.

It didn’t take Soto long to make the decision to start carrying Black Rifle Coffee Company products in her coffee shop.

“A lot of coffee shops sell different coffees, so I wanted to find a coffee that I could sell, and when I learned more about Black Rifle Coffee, I thought it would be perfect at our shop,” Soto said. “I thought it would be a cool way to help support the veterans.”
