BRIDGEPORT — If you spend much time around Bill and Patti Dean, you start to realize something quickly: They don’t just have a sense of humor — they live in it.
They tease. They banter. They finish each other’s thoughts and occasionally interrupt them. They tell stories that begin in one decade and land in another. And through it all, there’s an easy rhythm between them — the kind that doesn’t feel performed, but practiced, over years and years of ordinary days.
Married in 1972, the Deans will mark 54 years at the end of September. When asked what it takes to make a marriage work — not just in “these days,” but in any days — the answer comes quickly.
“It takes,” Patti said, “a sense of humor.”
