Eighteen teams competed in the WNCC Cougar Golf Classic on Saturday, and a familiar group returned to the top after a three-year hiatus when The Legends claimed the overall title at Monument Shadows Golf Course.
The Legends, made up of Mike “Dingus” McKee, KC McGee, Ethan Bellairs, and Ron Gable, won the team title with a close win over Team Hampton – 51.44 to 52.1. Team Hampton included Jerry Gealy, Clearance Gealy, Jeff Ross, and Sam Poynter.
Third place went to the Moreno/Thompson team of Eric Moreno, Pete Moreno, Chris Thompson and Cody Thompson, who finished with a 52.29 total.
The Legends last won in 2018. The 2019 champions were Safetyline Consultants, and last year the tournament was canceled because of the pandemic. The Legends won five straight Cougar Golf Classics from 2014-2018.
