Even though the Sidney girls basketball team graduated a big chunk of its firepower from last year’s 19-8 team, the Red Raiders have been keeping its tradition of success going strong this season.

SIDNEY – For as long as Tyler Shaw has been coaching Sidney High School girls basketball, he’s always strived for consistency with his program from year to year.
Therefore, even if the Red Raiders graduate several key players, like they did from last year’s 19-8 and district runner-up squad, they manage to keep competing at a high level.
“Our goal is always to not have much off a drop-off from one season to the next,” said Shaw, who headed into this season with a 264-118 record in 17 years as the Sidney girls’ head coach. “We’re always looking to build good basketball players and better people, and we start that well before kids start playing varsity basketball. We try to bring kids up through the program and put them in a position to be successful when they’re in high school.”
That formula for success has certainly been working for the Red Raiders.
