SCOTTSBLUFF – Mark Osnes of Scottsbluff was always impressed with the way his dad, Richard Osnes, could remember certain things that happened many years ago.

“He was sharp as a tack,” Mark said. “He could tell you something specific that happened a few years ago on a specific date at a specific time.”

About five years ago, however, Mark and his sister, Debi Watson, who lives in Gillette, Wyoming, began noticing some changes with their dad’s personality.

He began repeating himself a lot, for example, and he started to forget where he had placed certain items. He also started to forget to pay his bills. There were also a few times when he would be driving but would forget where he was going or where he was at.

“We knew something was wrong,” Mark said.
