Jeane and Matt Anderson of Gering didn’t know why their 6-year-old son, Walker, was feeling so much pain in his knees and back in March. They were devastated in June when they learned that their son had Leukemia, but they never gave up hope that their only child would overcome cancer. Walker has indeed battled tough, and he continues to stay upbeat and determined while receiving chemotherapy treatments.

GERING – Walker Anderson of Gering is a fun-loving, happy 6-year-old boy who enjoys being active and spending time outdoors.
“We basically have to drag him inside because he loves the outdoors so much,” said his mother, Jeane Anderson.
In March, however, Walker’s demeanor started to change, and he no longer wanted to be outside as often. The reason is that he began feeling pain in his knees and back, causing him to cringe when he rode his bicycle or even walked.
“Everything started to become painful for him,” Jeane said. “Even in school, he had an amazing teacher who would text me to say that he’s hurting so bad. It got to the point where he just didn’t want to do anything because he was in so much pain.”
