Enjoying life after beating breast cancer

Mandy Shaw’s heart dropped on New Year’s Day 2012 when she found a lump on her breast, which turned out to be a particularly bad type of breast cancer. But Shaw, who’s a physician in Sidney, stayed positive and fought hard through that difficult time, and she ended up beating cancer. She’s now been cancer free for eight years and is living her life to its fullest.

SIDNEY – It was early on New Year’s Day 2012, and Mandy Shaw of Sidney lied down on her bed to get some rest.

When she rolled over onto her side, however, she happened to feel a lump on her right breast. She immediately thought it was probably breast cancer.

“I turned to my husband [Tyler Shaw], and I told him, ‘I don’t want to freak you out, but this is not a good thing,’” said Mandy, a physician at Regional West Physician’s Clinic-Sidney.
