MORRILLKim Lessert of Morrill is no stranger to the West and Midwest, meeting and helping new people she has met along the way in her travels. As a young girl, she moved a lot with her family, as her dad Skip Lessert took different job positions as a national sales manager for a motor oil company. That ultimately led Kim to a lifetime working in various retail positions before making her way back home.

Both she and her brother were born in Gordon, and then shortly after that they moved to Rapid City, South Dakota. In fourth grade, they moved to Henry while their house was being built in Denver. From fourth grade to sixth grade, she resided in Denver until her family moved again to Chicago, Illinois. She started seventh grade in Illinois and finished seventh grade in Kansas City, Missouri. From there, the family moved to Omaha when she was in the eighth grade, and she finished her high school education back in Morrill when her dad left his corporate job to begin his insurance agency. So, from one part of the West to the other side of the Midwest and back, she has been no stranger to moving from one place to the next.

After graduating high school, she attended Western Nebraska Community College, formerly known as Nebraska Western College. She finished her degree in Natural Resources in Park Management in Kearney. She shared she had original plans of working for a youth camp, but ended up doing something completely different.

“My end goal was I wanted to be a program director for a youth camp,” she said. “That didn’t ever really work out, so out of college I worked for my aunt and uncle on their farm in Marten, South Dakota, and then moved to Omaha to work for RTI, a wholesale music company.”
