FEATURE: Making people smile through her digital artwork

Isabelle Buck, a 2020 Bayard High School graduate, has always enjoyed drawing, and she’s pretty good at it, too. A few years ago, she developed a passion for digital artwork, especially creating cartoon characters on her cell phone and laptop, and her career goal now is to produce her own animated cartoon TV series and movies for people to enjoy.

BAYARD – Growing up, Isabelle Buck would often pull out a piece of paper and start drawing on it.

She liked to draw pictures of dinosaurs and other animals, and she also loved drawing characters from her favorite cartoons, such as Sonic the Hedgehog and The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!

“There’s nothing more that I enjoyed than drawing,” she said. “I’ve always been fascinated with it.”

When she was 10, Buck remembers watching the Disney movie “Cars” for the first time. That caused her to develop a passion for animation, and she wanted to start creating her own cartoon characters.

“I loved how the characters [in the Cars movie] moved around and told their own story,” she said. “I wanted to be able to do that with my own characters.”
