FEATURE: Still going strong at the Pink Palace

When Jody and Angie Buskirk bought the Pink Palace in McGrew in 1998, they didn’t know how long they would own it. Nearly 25 years later, they’re still having fun serving up tasty food and drinks at one of the most iconic bar and grills in western Nebraska.

McGREW – For a long time, Jody and Angie Buskirk had no idea how their bar and grill in McGrew – the Pink Palace – got its name or even why it was painted pink.

But the Buskirks, who are in their 24th year of owning the iconic restaurant, heard lots of stories from other people about how the Pink Palace got its name and color.

“Some people said there was a big sale on pink paint at one time,” Angie said with a smile.

Some of the other stories they’ve heard are funny, and some are kind of wild. And then there are some stories that the Buskirks say are pretty far fetched

“One time someone said this used to be a brothel,” Angie said, shaking her head. “But I really don’t believe that.”
