TORRINGTON, Wyo. – Baliegh Lane is the 20-year-old daughter of Gaelen and Susan Lane of Torrington. From a young age, she has always been drawn to horses. As a 2024 Wyoming Virtual Academy graduate, she noted she was first drawn to the sport of rodeo before transitioning to Reined cow horse and cutting competitions.

“I grew up rodeoing and have been around horses my whole life,” she said. “As a high school freshman, I competed in high school rodeo as a member of the Wyoming High School Rodeo Association. I competed in all of the events – barrels, poles and roping. I was an all-around competitor. I quickly got hooked on the cutting and Reined cow horse competitions and quit competing in rodeo my sophomore year of high school.”

Baliegh has been fortunate to compete all across the United States. She has shown all over Texas, Montana, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Right now, Baliegh spends time around her family’s ranch and stays busy with her horses.

“I have my own breeding program and stay busy around the ranch. When the weather warms up this spring, I will start traveling and showing pretty heavily from the beginning of May to mid September/October.”
