BRIDGEPORT – The first time Jason Blanco really saw Bridgeport High School, he wasn’t there as a principal candidate. He was just a friend in the stands.
It was a Tuesday night girls’ basketball game in the middle of January – the kind of night when a lot of communities might stay home. Instead, the gym was packed.
“I came and the first thing I saw was the community involvement. The community backing in this place was unbelievable,” Blanco recalled. “This is a Tuesday night in January. There’s the thought like, ‘What are people doing here?’ And George (Superintendent Mr. Schlothauer) goes, ‘No, this is how it is. We support our kids.’”
