OBITUARY: Dan Vohland

Our beloved grandfather, father, husband, and friend, Dan Vohland, passed this 29th of December, 2020 at the age of 90 years old. Dan was born on July 13, 1930 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Lee and Elsie (Saunders) Vohland. After graduating from Minatare High School in 1948, Dan enlisted in the Army and served 2 years during the Korean War, followed by two years of college.

Throughout his career, Dan worked as a fireman for the railroad, station agent for United Airlines, and plant manager for TRW.

Dan met the love of his life, Dixie Lee Dryden, and they married in Troy, New York on December 1, 1956. They eventually returned to the family farm in 1960, where they spent the next forty years pursuing their dreams and raising their family. Born to this marriage were four children, Mark, Greg, Scott, and Beth. Seven grandchildren blessed this union as well, Keith, Seth, April, Paige, Shelby, Ivy, and Sara, and five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Marley, Emmett, Otto, and Aurora.

Dan will always be remembered for his tremendous work ethic, his mastery of many trades, and his selfless devotion to family, friends, and animals.

Even during the final days of his brave battle with cancer, Dan extended his endless empathy, humor, and knowledge to those around him.

Dan’s spirit lives on through his family, hard work, and kind acts.

Funeral services will be privately held. Online condolences may be left at www.geringhcapel.com
