GERING – Jadyn Scott, a senior at Gering High School, is Nspire Today!’s Female Athlete of the Month for November. She’s coming off a spectacular performance in the Nebraska Class B state cross country meet in Kearney, where she earned a fifth-place medal with a time of 20 minutes, 3 seconds. She was only about 20 seconds away from finishing runner-up. Scott didn’t start competing in cross country until her sophomore year, and she qualified for state her last three years of high school. She placed third at the district meet this year. Scott also competes in track and field, participating in the 1,600 and 4×800 relay. The other activity she’s involved in at school is Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She has a 3.7 GPA. After high school, she wants to attend college and possibly run competitively in college. She’s undecided on a college major. Her parents are Jessica Morales and Joseph Scott.
Q: How excited were you to earn fifth place at the Class B state meet in October?
SCOTT: “It was really shocking to me that I medaled at state. I wasn’t expecting to run as well as I did at Kearney, especially on that hilly course. I’m blessed that I was able to run as well as I did and place as high as I did.”
