Outside of school, she works at Farmers Coop in Hemingford. After high school, she plans to attend WNCC in Scottsbluff. For a career, she wants to become a surgery technician. Her parents are Hanna and Derek Walker.
Q: How did the volleyball season go for Hemingford this fall?
WALKER: “It went pretty good. We accomplished a lot, including having a winning record (17-14). We loved our coaches; they really pushed us and helped us have a great season. We had a lot of fun.”
Q: Were you pleased with how things went for you individually during the volleyball season?
WALKER: “Yes, I thought I had a pretty good season. I ranked number one for blocking in our district. I actually beat my personal record for blocks. I had 34 last year and 51 this season. Overall, I thought this was my best season of volleyball, especially since I had a 2.0 average on my kills. I really wanted to do well with hitting because last year I hurt my ankle, and that affected my hitting. I thought I did pretty good this year. Also, I had 41 aces.”
Q: What was your reaction when you found out you had been chosen for the all-conference first team in volleyball this fall?
WALKER: “I was really surprised because there’s a bunch of good players in our conference. I loved [being chosen] because it showed what the other coaches in our conference thought of me.”
Q: What are your goals for this basketball season?
WALKER: “Have a winning record, enjoy my last season of playing for Hemingford High School, and let the younger girls know that they’ll always have an older girl to go to if they need help with anything.”
