TORRINGTON, Wyo. – Brayden Hime, a senior at Torrington High School, is Nspire Today!’s Male Athlete of the Month for February. He’s a three-sport participant, competing in football, basketball, and track and field. In football, he was a two-year starter. Last fall he started at left tackle, and he also made a big difference on defense, playing defensive end and defensive tackle. Following last season, he earned all-conference recognition, and he was named Torrington High School’s Lineman of the Year. He recently signed a letter of intent to play football at Black Hills State University. In basketball, Brayden is a power forward/center. In track and field, he competes in the shot put and discus. He’s also a standout in the classroom. He ranks sixth in his class with a 3.85 GPA, and he’s in his second year in National Honor Society. He’s been on the Honor Roll throughout high school. In addition, he was named Torrington High School’s Male Student of the Semester last fall, and he was named Torrington High School’s Male Scholar Athlete his first three years of high school. That honor, which recognizes the top male and female three-sport athletes who have the highest GPA in their class, is announced toward the end of the school year. Outside of school, Brayden is involved in the youth group at First Congregational Church in Torrington. Right now, he’s undecided on what major he’ll pursue in college. His parents are Keri and Shane Hime.

Q: You recently signed to play football at Black Hills State University. How excited are you about that opportunity?

HIME: “It’s amazing. Not everybody has the chance to do that, so I’m very grateful for this opportunity.”

Q: Why did you pick Black Hills State University?

HIME: “I really love the atmosphere up there in Spearfish. It has kind of a small-town feel, and with the team, I love the core values they all have. It’s really a player-led team. The coaches are there, but it’s really the players who get after it and make sure everyone is giving a great effort.”
