OBITUARY: Alois ‘Bill’ Neal of Gering

Alois “Bill” Neal, 78, of Gering, Nebraska passed away October 21, 2021, at his home with family by his side. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 30th, 2:00, at Monument Bible Church, 4124 Ave I, Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Online condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com

He was born March 3, 1943, to Alois “Al” Neal and Ruth Kreiling, and received his early education in the Melbeta schools, graduating from Melbeta High School. He married Marian Mathews on September 4, 1965 and was a beloved husband of 56 years. To this union, they were blessed with their son, Shannon Neal. 

They made their home in Gering & he was employed as a mechanic at S&T Motors. He later owned and operated the Mathews’ family ranch. He was later employed at the Scottsbluff County Road Department as a grader-operator, as well as a handy-bus driver. 

He was a member of the Banner County Volunteer Fire Department serving as Fire Chief, and EMT. He was also an active member of the Rural Fire Board. He had a passion for rodeo and loved living the ranch life. He was known for his quick-witted sense of humor, and his cowboy-ism’s. He was hard-working, knew no stranger, and will be remembered for his compassion and helping those in need. He was dearly loved by extended family, had an immense love for his grandchildren, and an incredibly special relationship with great-grandson, Solomon. 

He is survived by his wife Marian; son Shannon Neal (Robin); grandchildren Chantel Spath (Jaime) and Colton Neal; great-grandson Solomon Spath. 

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Gayle Grimm and brother Dave.
