Tom Ray Wayman of Harrisburg

Funeral services for Tom Ray Wayman, age 81 of Harrisburg NE, who died at Scottsbluff NE on March 7, 2022 surrounded by his family will be held on March 14th, 2022 at Gering Memorial Chapel at 10:30 AM burial will be at Creighton Cemetery near Melbeta NE. Visitation will be Sunday March 13th from 2-5 PM With Pastor Bill Begley officiating. A memorial has been established to the Wayman Family. Online condolences may be left at www.geringchapel.com.

He was born in Banner County NE on February 19, 1941 to Rex & June (Davis) Wayman, He graduated High School from Melbeta NE. In High School he played football, basketball and also boxed.

His first job was to watch over cattle so they would not cross the cattle gate when he was 9 years old and made .98 cents a day, at 19 went on wheat harvest crew, He worked on several different farms as a farm hand, a cafe manager, Junkyard employee, truck driver delivering Milk, Sugar factory campaign one year, camper technician, truck rock hauling and worked 27 years for Kelley Bean Co mostly driving truck. He loved working on anything with a motor he could fix anything!! He restored two cars a 1928 Buick, 1932 Plymouth and 1954 GMC farm truck all three were entered into the Sugar Valley Rally for many years, he also enjoyed fishing with his wife and grandkids and always had a extremely large garden. 

He married Karen Kay Warner on December 30, 1962 at Melbeta, NE and made their home in Gering, Kimball, Morrill and Harrisburg NE.

Survivors include: Wife Karen of 59 years, Daughter Lori (Glenn) of Hay Springs NE, Daughter Traci (Frank) Akers of Gering NE, Son Troy (Barb) of Kearney NE, Grandchildren: Amber (David) Thurow of Parshall CO, Stevie (Brandon) Slunecka Gering, NE, Kodee Muhr (Justin Dean) of Lincoln, NE, Zack (Fayth) Columbus, NE, Jacob Wayman Omaha, NE, Great Grandchildren: Daemen, Megan, Kristian, Evan, Owen Thurow; Aubrey, Chase, Paisley Slunecka; Kinsley, Renley Dean; Sister Iona (Nonie) Hizel and Friend Ray of Scottsbluff, NE, Brother Rick (Kathy) Wayman of Scottsbluff, NE and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jack & Jerry; Sister’s Alberta, Iline, Glenda; Granddaughter Britney Akers, Grandson Frank Joseph Akers V
