TYING THE KNOT SPECIAL SECTION: ‘It’s about being a team – and having a strong foundation in the Lord’

Melissa Snyder and Nick Larson, both of Scottsbluff, dated for nearly 3 1/2 years before they got engaged Dec. 29. They’re planning to tie the knot this summer, and they say the keys to them living happily ever after will be continuing to trust, love and support each other while also keeping their faith in God.

SCOTTSBLUFF – One day in January 2020, Melissa Snyder of Scottsbluff received a Facebook message from one of her friends, Lindsey Keller, who lives in Lincoln. Lindsey wanted to know if Melissa was dating anyone at the time. Melissa replied “no.”

“And then she asked, ‘Can I give your phone number to my brother?’” Melissa said.

Lindsey thought Melissa might be a good match for her brother, Nick Larson, who lives in Scottsbluff.

“I said, ‘Well, can you tell me a little bit about him first?’” Melissa said with a laugh. “He seemed like a nice guy based on how Lindsey described him, so I said it would be fine to give him my number.”

Lindsey told Nick a little bit about Melissa and encouraged him to reach out to her. He did, and they agreed to meet for coffee at Cappuccino and Company in downtown Scottsbluff.

“I was a little nervous, just like I think anybody would be in that situation,” Nick said. “But I thought it went pretty well. I don’t think I spoke too much because I wanted her to talk more than me. I didn’t want to put my foot in my mouth. [laughs]”
