‘I was lucky to make it out alive’

Colby Burri, a 2020 Alliance High School graduate, suffered serious injuries, particularly to his head, during a rollover auto accident in February. Although he’s still recovering from that accident, he says he’s grateful to be alive, and he’s learned the importance of living every day to the fullest.

ALLIANCE – Colby Burri of Alliance had a little time to burn on the morning of February 19, 2020. So, he stepped into his 2002 Dodge Dakota and headed out to some dirt roads east of Alliance. 

It was a chilly morning, with snow falling lightly. A big snowstorm was expected to hit the area later in the day.

As the 18-year-old Burri was driving on the gravel, thinking about his future, he suddenly lost control of his pickup. It veered off to the left side of the road into a ditch, smashing into a pole. The jolt caused the pickup to roll three times.
