WNCC Criminal Justice Club hosting Purple Thursday event for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic violence thrives in silence. This October, in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The DOVES Program, Bellevue University and the Western Nebraska Community College Criminal Justice Club and Cougar Strides Program are hosting “Purple Thursday” at WNCC’s Scottsbluff Campus on October 21.

Students, faculty and staff are asked to wear purple to show support for survivors and their commitment to ending violence. The “Purple Thursday” booth will run from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Pit. Participants can pose for “I Wear Purple” photos, spin a prize wheel for purple swag and enter into a drawing for prizes from Cougar Strides. Photos will be shared on DOVES social media with the hashtags #Every1KnowsSome1, #PurpleThursday, #TheDOVESProgram. Community members can also participate by taking their own Purple Thursday photos and sharing it with the hashtags.
