ALLIANCE – Cameron Tritle, a senior at Alliance High School, has been named Nspire Today!’s Female Student of the Week, sponsored by First State Bank. She was involved in volleyball, and she also participates in basketball, student council, and Key Club. She has a 3.6 GPA. Her parents are Jason and Carey Tritle.

Q: Out of the activities you participate in, which one do you enjoy the most?

TRITLE: “My favorite is definitely volleyball. It’s been my favorite since last season. All my friends are in volleyball, so I really enjoy that sport.” Editor’s note: Cameron was a starter on the volleyball team this past season, playing in the middle.

Q: How’s the basketball season going for the Alliance girls?

TRITLE: “It’s been kind of difficult. We haven’t won a game yet, but we’re trying to push through it, taking it game by game. We’re looking at the positives and trying to get better each day.”

Q: What is your favorite non-sports activity?

TRITLE: “Probably Key Club. I like being involved in Key Club because it’s more community-based. We do a lot of things for people.”

Q: What are a couple of the Key Club’s most recent projects?

TRITLE: “We’ve made adult coloring books for nursing homes. We wrapped them up and gave them away as Christmas presents. We also frosted cookies and handed those out to the community as a little gift.”

Q: How much joy does it bring to you to show kindness like that to others?

TRITLE: “It’s definitely a fun thing to do. It’s nice to go around and see how you can impact other people. I think it’s one of those things that everyone should be part of – doing community work to help people. It’s definitely something that will put a smile on everyone’s face, whether you help or you receive.”

Q: Why did you decide to become involved in Key Club?

TRITLE: “My friends did it, so I decided to join, too.”

Q: You’re also in student council. How is that going?

TRITLE: “I’ve been in student council for four years. It’s been going good. We’ve been trying to do stuff to improve the school. We host things like a fun night. We just hosted a fun night a couple weeks ago. That’s something where students can come and hang out with each other on a Saturday night. We set up nets sometimes and play different games.”

Q: How’s your senior year of school going?

TRITLE: “It’s going good. I’m in some dual credit courses, so I definitely get challenged.”

Q: What’s your favorite class this year?

TRITLE: “My favorite class is anatomy and physiology just because I find that stuff really interesting.”

Q: How important is it to you to get excellent grades?

TRITLE: “School is the first priority for me. I try my hardest to keep my grades up, which if you’re involved in activities of any kind, it’s really difficult to do. So, I try to prioritize school. It’s important because there are things beyond sports and beyond high school that I think we need to focus on.”

Q: What are your plans after you graduate from high school?

TRITLE: “I’m going to attend Colorado State University in Fort Collins. I plan to study nutrition.”

Q: Why did you decide to go to Colorado State?

TRITLE: “When I went on a visit there, I immediately fell in love with it. I’ve been on other college visits, and it was kind of overwhelming, but when I visited CSU, it just felt like home. I felt like I would be comfortable there. It’s not too far away from Alliance. Plus, I have family who live in Fort Collins, so that helps.”

Q: What got you interested in pursuing nutrition?

TRITLE: “I’ve always found it interesting how your body reacts to what you eat. I just think it’s something I would really enjoy learning more about.”

Q: Up to this point, what do you feel has been your top academic achievement?

TRITLE: “I would say being able to maintain a good GPA while being involved in activities. One thing I kind of struggled with was time management, so I think the fact that I’ve kind of figured that out is a big achievement for me.”

Q: What is your favorite TV show?

TRITLE: “That ’70s Show.”

Q: Favorite type of music?

TRITLE: “R&B. My favorite artist is Khalid.”

Q: What are your three favorite apps on your cell phone?

TRITLE: “Twitter, Instagram, and Tik Tok.”

Q: What’s the most exciting place you’ve ever traveled to?

TRITLE: “My mom and I went to Hawaii a couple years ago, and that was by far the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.”

Q: What do you think is the coolest attraction in the WyoBraska region?

TRITLE: “I would say Carhenge because I’m from Alliance, and I’m biased.”

Q: How would you describe Carhenge to people who haven’t seen it?

TRITLE: “It’s not as big as you would think, and it’s kind of weird – but in a good way.”

Q: What is something you wish people would do more of?

TRITLE: “I wish people would help each other out more within their community. If you see someone who needs help, help them. I wish that was still as common as it used to be. But I think because of social media and stuff, that’s kind of died out a lot.”

Q: Who do you think is one of the kindest students at Alliance High School?

TRITLE: “I would say Lillie Otto. She’s always been so nice to everyone. She’s not really the gossip type, and she’s the kind of person who if you need help with your homework, she would try her best to help you even if she didn’t understand it.”

Q: What’s your favorite local restaurant?

TRITLE: “La Villa because it’s Mexican food, and it’s just amazing.”

Q: If you could give a shoutout to one business in Alliance, which one would it be and why?

TRITLE: “I’d give a shoutout to Tritle Plumbing because that’s my family’s business. They’ve actually done a lot of work in the Panhandle – like in Gering, Scottsbluff, and Chadron. They pretty much go everywhere.”

Q: Have you lived in Alliance your whole life?

TRITLE: “Yes, I have.”

Q: How much have you enjoyed growing up in Alliance?

TRITLE: “My parents also went to high school here, so everybody knows you. My best friends have lived here for a long time, too. It’s home. It will always be home to me.”

Q: What is one thing that Alliance doesn’t have that you wish it did have?

TRITLE: “Runza.”

Q: Name one person who you think is a big difference-maker in the Alliance community.

TRITLE: “Roxie Smith [who is a teacher at Alliance High School]. She’s always there for her students. I love the way she treats everyone and tries to help everyone. She’s a huge difference-maker.”

Q: Do you have any siblings?

TRITLE: “Yes, I have two older sisters: Caitlyn Hill (24) and Cayla Tritle (21).”
