BRIDGEPORT – Seventeen-year-old Emilie Miller of Bridgeport has found her niche, and it’s on the stage as an actress. The Bridgeport High School junior has earned numerous awards, and she plans to stay active in drama in the coming years.

An active member of One Acts, which is comprised of about 20 students, Emilie recently played the leading role in the production of “A Girl Named Opal,” an emotional, touching play about a little girl who lost her parents at sea. Opal, played by Emilie, is sent to a small village to live with a woman who lost her daughter.

“It was a very sweet story about love and loss,” said Emilie.

Her coaches, Kristen Kraupie and Costa Lapaseotes, made a significant difference in her ability to play the role, she said.

“My coaches pushed me at every practice to do the best I could,” she explained.
