SCOTTSBLUFF — Analiese Bauder grew up on the east side of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in the kind of neighborhood where kids still played outside and friendships formed on sidewalks and driveways.
“I did a lot of things like playing outside,” she said. “I would go fishing and things like that.”
But even then, her world wasn’t just filled with neighborhood bikes and backyard adventures. It was filled with animals — her own, her neighbors’, and eventually, any creature someone needed help with while they were out of town.
