GERING – Jeromy Delgado of Scottsbluff is the Chief Technology Officer for ERH Technology Solutions, an IT business that’s part of Holliday Family of Companies in Gering. ERH Technology Solutions, which launched May 4, has IT professionals who monitor, support and correct problems quickly and effectively. Its managed services allow school districts, non-profit groups, and for-profit businesses to have essential IT support in the many areas of IT without needing their own IT professionals on staff for each need. ERH Technology Solutions provides comprehensive network administration options; antivirus, cloud backup, and 24/7 monitoring; troubleshooting for network and workstations; and assistance with existing IT staff and processes. Delgado, 40, began working for Holliday Family of Companies in October 2018 as the logistics professional. A year later, he became the IT director for Holliday Family of Companies. Altogether, Delgado has been involved in IT for 16 years. He graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1999, and he then served in the United States Marine Corps from 2000 to 2004. He earned an associate’s degree in Information Technology from WNCC in 2011. Delgado and his wife, Casie, have two children: Keon, 13, and Kaymbree, 10.
Q: How did ERH Technology Solutions get started?
DELGADO: “During quarantine earlier this year, we offered IT services to truck dispatchers and shippers. One day during a meeting, we talked about expanding our IT services to other people. We thought it could be pretty successful, so we decided to give it a go. One thing about the Holliday Family of Companies is it’s very diverse and is willing to try new things. For example, we have a programmer on site. He even made a fun app called Pose, and it’s already had more than 10,000 downloads. Also, right now, Holliday Family of Companies is creating software that could revolutionize the trucking industry. So, this company has been great about coming up with ideas and turning them into successful businesses. That’s what we’re wanting to do with ERH Technology Solutions. We want to make sure we take care of businesses in our area, but we can offer IT support to anybody across the nation remotely. Also, we have contacts all around the nation, so if we ever need on-site support somewhere, we can call one of our contacts to provide that on-site support.”
Q: How important is remote IT support these days?
DELGADO: “There’s always a need for IT help, and the demand grows every day. Let’s face it, the world is all about technology these days. It’s not going to go away, either, so people need help in many different areas of IT. Our goal is to be your IT department, so if you ever have any technology issues, you could call us, and we could take care of it in a very timely and affordable manner.”
Q: How pleased are you with how things have been going since ERH Technology Solutions started in early May?
DELGADO: “We’re really excited about how things have been going. We’ve already added several clients, including one of the local school districts and a local non-profit organization. We’re pleased with the progress we’ve made in a short amount of time, and we’re looking forward to continuing to grow.”
Q: Was there a lot of work that needed to be done to launch ERH Technology Solutions?
DELGADO: “In all honestly, not really because I’ve managed IT services before. So, I kind of knew what I needed and which direction I wanted to go. We’ve made a few changes since May with how we do things, but overall, it came together pretty easily.”
Q: What is your vision for ERH Technology Solutions in the next few months?
DELGADO: “I want to see this company continue to grow. To me, it’s not about the number of companies that we support. It’s all about offering excellent support. I want people to know who we are and what we’re about, and I want school districts, non-profit organizations, and businesses to know that they can count on us for all of their IT needs. Ultimately, we would like to help businesses across the nation, but our big push right now is locally. As we grow, our staff will grow with it. In fact, we’ll probably be looking to hire another technician in the next couple months.”
Q: What do you think separates ERH Technology Solutions from other IT companies?
DELGADO: “I know for us, we’re a Christian-based company, and we’re really trying to focus on the education and non-profit sectors in our area right now. We offer IT support to any business, but one of our priorities right now is on our local school districts and non-profit groups. Part of the reason for that is I’ve worked in the education sector before, and I’ve standardized education networks, so I have a vast knowledge of dealing with educational requirements for IT. One of the things that makes us different is the wide variety of services we offer. For example, I can remote in to cell phones and assist people that way if they need cell phone help. We also do dark web scanning and protection. Unfortunately, there are databases on the Internet that have people’s personal information on them, but using our software, we’ll be notified within 24 hours of information that’s been exposed in the dark web. We also have consumer plans for an average household. People like to use our consumer plans, for example, for backups and antivirus protection. As far as our business plans, our remote support is included in our pricing, and we also offer on-site support for places that are within 30 miles of us.”
Q: What are some of the other benefits of using ERH Technology Solutions?
DELGADO: “Most IT departments consist of someone who is specialized in one particular area. With ERH Technology Solutions, we’re very diverse with our IT knowledge, so you’re getting more bang for your buck. For example, instead of hiring three technicians with their own specialized backgrounds, you can get vast knowledge from ERH Technology Solutions for a lower cost. It’s not necessary to hire multiple IT staff with various specializations when you can get everything you need from ERH Technology Solutions for one low price. Our pricing includes antivirus, a backup option, remote support, and on-site support within 30 miles. As far as fees go, on the consumer side, it’s month to month, and on the business side, contract lengths can be negotiated. Something else I’ll add is that ERH Technology Solutions can be a fully managed IT solution or a co-managed IT solution. What co-managed means is that you can have your own IT staff, but if that business has an overflow of work or any special projects, we can help with those things. We can work directly with your IT staff.”
Q: How exciting is this opportunity for you – to be the person in charge of this new business at Holliday Family of Companies?
DELGADO: “I’m very, very excited. Honestly, I never in my life thought I’d be part of a start-up company like this. I’m very grateful for this opportunity. I really enjoy working in IT, and I get to use my experience in the IT field to help start this new company, which we think will be very successful.”
Q: How cool is it that you get to start this technology company right here in Scottsbluff/Gering, where you were born and raised?
DELGADO: “It’s kind of hard for me to believe, actually. I thought I would have to move to Colorado or eastern Nebraska to do technology stuff like this. You might not think that technology would be so prevalent in an area like this, but it is. Even around here, technology is part of everyone’s everyday life. Everyone is so dependent on technology. It’s exciting to see ERH Technology Solutions starting up right here. I’m thrilled to be part of it.”
Q: Have you always been fascinated with technology?
DELGADO: “Yes, I have. I remember when I was 13 or 14 years old, I would always go to my aunt’s house and get on her dial-up connection to look on Yahoo and AOL. Then when I went to the military and attended computer school, that’s when I really knew that this is what I wanted to do for a career. Even when I was really young, I would tear apart radios and stereo systems – just because I was curious to see how things worked. I also like trouble shooting with technology.”
Q: What helped you gain the most IT knowledge?
DELGADO: “The military gave me a basic understanding of how networking and IT worked. But in all honestly, it was my time at another IT provider that gave me a better understanding of the new technology that’s out there.”
Q: Is it hard to keep up with all the changes in technology?
DELGADO: “It takes a lot of studying and lot of reading to stay up to date with technology. Those were never my favorite things to do, but when you’re involved in technology, you have to do those things to keep up with the changes in technology, especially with the evolution of cyber crime. There’s a lot more to it than just random viruses.”
Q: How big do you see ERH Technology Solutions becoming?
DELGADO: “Well, we’re just getting started, but I see this company continuing to grow over time. I’d like to have 10 to 15 technicians or more in my business one day, but we’re taking it one step at a time right now. Looking at the future, though, I think the sky is the limit when it comes to this type of business.”
Q: How much have you enjoyed working for Holliday Family of Companies?
DELGADO: “I love this company. We’re a family here. It’s hands-down the best company I’ve ever worked for. What really made me want to work here is how Christian-based this company is. This company was built on Christian values. Because of that, it’s a very friendly, comfortable environment to work in, and we always do everything we can to treat our customers well. It’s also a company that feels strongly about helping people in our community and doing things to help make our community a better place for people to live and work.”
Q: How much have you enjoyed living in the Scottsbluff/Gering area?
DELGADO: “In my opinion, there’s no better place to raise kids than right here in the valley. I’ve lived here my entire life other than the four years I served in the military, so I’ve become good friends with a lot of people here. Plus, my family lives around here, and my wife’s family lives in this area, too. Our family really enjoys being here. We have no plans to leave.”
Q: Outside of work, what do you like to do for fun?
DELGADO: “My wife and I love spending time watching our kids in their sports and other activities. Also, I am a travel baseball coach for 23 Club, and I serve on the 23 Club board of directors. I also do a little bit of web design on the side. It’s not a service I offer, but I enjoy doing some of that when I have time. I also love to golf when I get a chance.”
Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?
DELGADO: “I love the fact that we’re a veteran operated company. To me, that’s a big thing. I love working with other veterans, and it’s great that people around here really appreciate veterans.”
Q: Talk a little more about your experience serving in the military.
DELGADO: “I was in the Marines from January 2000 to January 2004. I was a corporal when I got out, and my MOS (or jobs) was satellite communications. It was a great experience, and I was proud to serve my country. After I got out of the service, I was the senior vice commander for Gering American Legion Post 36 for two years, then I was the commander for Gering American Legion Post 36 for two years.”
