Craig Hall of Morrill High School named TC & More’s Teacher of the Week

Craig Hall of Morrill High School has been named TC & More’s Teacher of the Week.

Hall is an English teacher for grades 10-12. He’s also a varsity girls basketball assistant coach and the varsity boys golf head coach. In addition, he’s the National Honor Society sponsor.

Hall has been teaching for seven years, including four at Morrill High School.

The person who nominated Hall for the TC & More Teacher of the Week honor said, “He’s always super friendly and kind, and he cares about each one of his students. I’ve heard a lot of students say how much they’ve enjoyed being in his class because they learn a lot and also because they have fun in his classroom. He definitely makes a big difference in young people’s lives.”

Hall said he enjoys teaching in Morrill.

“I enjoy being around the kids every day,” he said. “We try to create a fun atmosphere in the classroom where the kids learn while also having fun.“

Hall said he has several relatives who have gone into the teaching profession.

“My mom’s parents were teachers, and my aunt is a teacher, too, so education is kind of in my blood,” he said. “I wanted to follow that same path.”

Hall said he enjoys helping with the activities at Morrill High School, including being the sponsor of National Honor Society.

“It’s a great group of kids. They’re fun to work with,” he said. “We do a ton of stuff in the community, whether that’s helping people move stuff out of their house or going to the soup kitchen in Gering to serve. As good as these kids are in the school, they’re even better people outside of school.”

Hall said he became interested in teaching English because of his high school English teacher.

“My high school English teacher was a huge influence on me. He was a great role model. He was always a teacher first and a coach second, and that’s what I wanted to do. I wanted to coach, but at the same time I wanted to really make a positive impact on kids’ lives outside of coaching, too,” he said.

Hall graduated from Rock County High School in Bassett, Nebraska, in 2008. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from UNK in 2013.

Hall said he likes being part of the Morrill community.

“Morrill is a great community,” he said. “It has a small-town atmosphere just like my hometown, and the community has been very welcoming to us.”

Outside of teaching and coaching, Hall said he loves to play golf and hunt.

“I go back to my parent’s ranch and hunt deer, and I golf 24/7 in the summer,” he said.

For being named TC & More’s Teacher of the Week, Hall will receive a $10 gift certificate to TC & More, which is located at 1621 Broadway Ave. in downtown Scottsbluff. Gift certificates may be picked up at TC & More.
