Donald Schulte, a resident at Western Nebraska Veterans Home in Scottsbluff, has been named Nspire Today!’s Hometown Hero of the Week, sponsored by Schank Roofing in Scottsbluff.
Schulte, a Korean War Veteran, served in the Army from April of 1949 to June of 1952. He worked in an office, completing paperwork.
“It was a good job,” he said. “I enjoyed helping wherever I could. I’m proud to say that I served my country.”
In addition to serving in the Army, Schulte was a high school teacher, and he also was an automotive instructor at Western Nebraska Community College.
Schulte, 91, lived in Gering before moving into the Western Nebraska Veterans Home.
