YOUTH IN AG: Mitchell teen ‘loves everything about farming’

Jackson Jenkins, a sophomore at Mitchell High School, is a talented athlete who excels in three sports, and he’s also involved in several non-sports activities at high school. One of his favorite things to do, though, is help in a variety of ways on his family’s farm, which has been in the Jenkins’ family since 1908.

MITCHELL – At Mitchell High School, Jackson Jenkins loves being involved in lots of activities.

He’s particularly passionate about sports, which is why he’s involved in football, wrestling, and track and field. But he also participates in several non-sports activities, including band, FBLA, and Tigers Committed.

“My days are usually pretty full,” the Tiger sophomore said.

There’s something else, though, that takes up a lot of his time – being involved in ag, whether it’s providing physical labor on his family’s farm or competing and learning more about ag in FFA.

“I’ve always liked being involved in ag. I’ve grown up with it, so it’s a big part of who I am,” he said. “I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
