I have been writing for several different publications for 10 years now. I have had assignments ranging from sports, political candidates, business profiles, leaders of organizations, and veterans.
Veteran interviews are one of my favorite subjects. I’ve told the stories of many veterans, from both war and peace. I know that every veteran has a story to tell, even if he or she doesn’t think so. Being a veteran myself and having a shared experience with them, I can “speak the language.” I understand the jargon, and I know what questions to ask.
I have interviewed dozens of veterans and told their stories; however, there is one veteran whose story I have never told: mine.
