FEATURE: Longtime Mitchell teacher says, ‘There isn’t anything I would rather do’

At one point in her life, Kris Keener of Mitchell planned to become a physical therapist. However, she changed her mind in college and earned an education degree instead. She’s glad she did, for she’s loved being a teacher the last 27 years, including the last 21 years in Mitchell, where she grew up.

MITCHELL – After graduating from Mitchell High School in 1980, Kris Keener’s plan was to go to college and become a physical therapist. 

She had become interested in that field during her years of playing volleyball and basketball for the Tigers. She often saw athletes going through injury rehab.

“I liked seeing how physical therapists took someone through rehab. That process really interested me,” she said. “Plus, I enjoyed learning how the body works.”
