FEATURE: ‘My love for the game is stronger than ever right now’

Taylor Klein, a 2020 Scottsbluff High School graduate who was a standout softball player for the Bearcats, was excited to continue her softball career at Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado. But during her freshman year there, she slowly started to lose her love for the game, and she even contemplated last summer stepping away from the game she’s been playing since she was 4. Klein, however, decided to play another season on the Cheyenne Extreme’s traveling softball team last summer, and that fun experience helped re-new her love for the game. She ended up transferring to WNCC to play softball, and she couldn’t have asked to have a more enjoyable season this spring. Not only has she been a starter at shortstop, but she’s also helped the Cougars put together another solid season. And more importantly, she said she’s made lots of fun memories with her teammates and coaches while experiencing the most joy she’s ever felt playing the game of softball.

SCOTTSBLUFF – Whether it was a practice or a game, Taylor Klein always put forth her best effort last year during her first season of collegiate softball.

But as her first season at Otero Junior College lingered on, she could feel her passion for the game slowly starting to fade.

“I’ve been playing softball since I was 4 years old, so I think I started to feel a little burnout,” said Klein, a 2020 Scottsbluff High School graduate. “It reached a point where it just wasn’t as much fun to me anymore.”
