Dave and Heidi Brunz of Gering had their world turned upside down earlier this year when they found out that their 4-year-old son, Dylan, had a large brain tumor. Dylan is doing fine now, though, they say, thanks to his tumor being successfully removed and the family’s prayers being answered

GERING – Dave and Heidi Brunz, along with their children and a few other family members, were watching “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” at the Midwest Theater in Scottsbluff on Jan. 21 when Dave and Heidi’s then 3-year-old son, Dylan, said he had to use the restroom.
Dylan’s grandma volunteered to lead Dylan out of the darkened theater, and when they got into the lighted lobby, Dylan started developing an excruciating headache.
“We took him home, gave him some Ibuprofene, and then put him to bed,” Dave said. “We thought that would be the end of it.”
Dylan got some sleep, but the next morning, on Saturday, Feb. 2 – just a few days after his fourth birthday – his headache got worse, Dave said.
“He was screaming at the top of his lungs,” he said. “He did go to sleep that night, but the next morning, he said his head still hurt really bad, and he wasn’t looking very good. We knew something was wrong, so we took him to the emergency room.”
