Arissa Staman, a senior at Bayard High School, developed a deep love for animals when she was little, and her desire to be around animals and help them has only grown stronger over the years. Therefore, she’s excited to be doing a work study at Flatwater Veterinary Services in Bridgeport this semester, and after graduating from BHS, she plans to attend Colby Community College to continue pursuing her dream of becoming a vet or a vet tech.

BAYARD – Bayard High School senior Arissa Staman has had her dog, a Chihuahua named Diesel, for about six years. She’s grateful to have him, especially since she feels like she got lucky to get him.
“He was totally not supposed to be my dog,” Staman said with a laugh. “Our family had friends who had a Chihuahua, and that dog had a litter of puppies. Every time we would go over there, I would constantly beg my mom to get me one of those puppies. She wanted a different dog, but I was stuck on Diesel. Fortunately, I ended up getting him.”
