Minatare High School senior Norvel Pacheco has enjoyed lots of success in FFA the last four years, including placing high in several district and state events. He’s been particularly impressive in welding and vet science, and he looks forward to wrapping up his high school FFA career with another trip to state in April. After that, he plans to earn an animal science degree at UNL before pursuing a career as a beef nutritionist.

MINATARE – Norvel Pacheco always knew his dad, Jose Pacheco, could weld. But it wasn’t until Norvel was in eighth grade that he saw his dad using his welding skills in person.
It was a moment that Norvel will never forget.
“He was fixing a corral panel, and then he started welding a couple pieces together. I was amazed,” he said. “There was something about watching that fire burn that really drew my attention. After seeing that, I knew I wanted to try doing that in high school.”
