Andy Stobel of Gering High School has been named TC & More’s Teacher of the Week.
Stobel has been teaching for 13 years – all at Gering High School.
He teaches German 1, 2, 3, 4, Honors English 1, and College Composition. In addition, he’s the teacher coach for Mock Trial, the dramatic director for All-School Musical, and the sponsor for both the German Club and the Bible Club.
“I enjoy developing relationships with students and watching them grow. Particularly in German class, they start as freshmen knowing absolutely nothing and end as seniors who can carry on conversations and understand jokes in another language,” Stobel said. “That is very rewarding. Additionally, I get to work with a great staff who care about kids and work hard to make a difference every day.”
The person who nominated Stobel said, “He’s one of the best teachers I’ve ever known, and I think if you asked the students he’s taught, they would say the same thing. He’s very intelligent, and he does whatever he can to help each of his students excel – both in the classroom and outside the classroom. It’s easy to see why students and staff have a lot of respect for him. Gering Public Schools is very lucky to have him. Thank you for considering Mr. Stobel for your “Teacher of the Week” honor. In my opinion, no one is more deserving of this honor than him.”
Stobel graduated from Gering High School in 2003. He then earned his bachelor’s degree in 2007 and his master’s degree in 2012, both at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
For being named TC & More’s Teacher of the Week, Stobel will receive a $10 gift certificate to TC & More, which is located at 1621 Broadway Ave. in downtown Scottsbluff. Gift certificates may be picked up at TC & More.
