SCOTTSBLUFF – Kendall Palu recently celebrated his one-year anniversary of being the general manager of the Scotts Bluff Country Club in Scottsbluff. Palu came to the SBCC after spending three years as the general manager at Cathedral Canyon Golf Course in Cathedral City, California. Before that, he worked in the golf industry in the Palm Springs, California, area for eight years, including two years as a golf instructor at Shadow Hills Golf Club and two years as an assistant manager at the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort. Palu grew up in North Platte, graduating from North Platte St. Patrick’s High School in 1986. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer technology in 1989 from National Technical College in Fort Ord, California, and he earned an associate’s degree in science from Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey, Calif. Palu completed the PGA program and earned his membership in 2007. As for his competitive playing career, he was on North Platte St. Patrick’s varsity golf team for four years, and he played college golf for two years at Monterey Peninsula College. Kendall and his wife, Alicia Palu, have been married for 17 years. They live in Scottsbluff and have a cat named Jake.

Q: Talk about how your first year went as the general manager of the Scotts Bluff Country Club.

PALU: “Overall, it’s been great to be back in Nebraska. I’ve gotten to know a lot of the members, and I’ve gotten to know a lot of other people in the community, which has made it an easier transition for me. I’ve really enjoyed it here.”

Q: How did you end up at the SBCC?

PALU: “My wife and I had moved to Palm Springs, California, to be closer to my children. But after they graduated high school and college, we didn’t get to see them very often anymore. So, my wife and I thought, ‘Why are we still here in Palm Springs?’ The previous couple years before we moved to Scottsbluff, I had been looking at job opportunities in Nebraska. I always knew I wanted to get back here. So, when I learned that this position was open, I applied and came for an interview. It worked out really well, and now I’m here.”
