FEATURE: ‘His happiness and positivity radiate hope’

Brayden Branham, an 8-year-old from Lyman, was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer earlier this year. But he hasn’t let that stop him from exhibiting the same traits that led to him earning the nickname ‘Mr. Smiley’ at Morrill Elementary School.

LYMAN – The middle part of November last year was a tough time period for Zoe and Stephen Branham and their five, young children.

All of them were battling influenza, and it seemed to hit their 8-year-old son, Brayden, the hardest. He had a high fever and chills, just like the other members of his family, but he was also experiencing something else that seemed weird to his parents. He began complaining of pain in his left leg.

“It really didn’t make sense to me,” said Zoe, 23, who is Brayden’s stepmom. “Stephen and I kind of chalked it up to growing pains.”
