FEATURE: Minatare woman on a mission to uplift people

Cheryl Howlett of Minatare wanted to do something to encourage people and give them hope, so five years ago she got the idea to start creating cool-looking posters and cards that would do just that. Since then, she’s distributed hundreds, if not thousands, of posters and cards to businesses and individuals both locally and out of state. Although Howlett loves to uplift people with her posters and cards, she doesn’t want to take any credit for what she’s doing, for she says her mission is being led by God.

MINATARE – About five years ago, Cheryl Howlett of Minatare started seeing posters popping up in the Scottsbluff/Gering area, like at the mall and on light poles, that had encouraging words written on them. Someone had made the posters in response to a young person in the area who had taken his own life.

“The posters had sayings on them like, ‘You are loved,’ and there was a Bible verse attached to them,” Howlett said. “To see someone really trying to encourage other people like that really touched my heart.”
