We’d like to kick things off by talking about some of the many open houses that will take place before Christmas. Two of them, in fact, are going on right now.
ABC Nursery in Scottsbluff started its Christmas Wonderland Open House today, and it will run through Sunday. They’ll be open today and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
ABC Nursery has been gearing up for this big weekend for the last several weeks. They encourage everyone to check out their new ornaments, fun gift ideas and much more.
It’s also one of the most magical times of the year at Tossed & Found, which is hosting its Holiday Open House today and Saturday. They’ll be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Tossed & Found, which is located in downtown Scottsbluff, features antiques and upscale consignment home furnishings. During its Holiday Open House, customers will be treated to awesome discounts, door prizes, and even tasty treats and beverages.
If you’re looking for vintage Christmas and other unique antique treasures, Tossed & Found is the place to be today and tomorrow.
Here’s a couple more holiday open houses to mark on your calendar:
- Marketplace & Company in Mitchell will have its Christmas Open House on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be extra good sales at the Marketplace on this day on their unique gourmet foods, candles, dishes, unique antiques and vintage items and much more. Adding to the excitement is that you’ll be able to sample different foods and win fun prizes, including basket drawings. Marketplace & Company, which is celebrating its first year of being in business, is located in downtown Mitchell at 1344 Center Ave.
- Lynne Morgan Boutique, a women’s clothing store in downtown Scottsbluff, will have its open house Thursday, Nov. 21, from 4-7 p.m. This big event will feature new arrivals as well as discount drawings. And while you’re shopping there that day, you’ll be treated to festive drinks, treats, and fun music.
Successful Open House at TC & More
TC & More in downtown Scottsbluff held its Christmas Open House Nov. 1-3, and owner Nancy Dillman said it was a huge success.
“Words can’t describe how wonderful it was,” she said. “We even had some customers come here from Cheyenne to shop.”
TC & More features a wide selection of cool gifts for people of all ages, and right now the store also includes an abundance of holiday decorations and gifts. Dillman said she was amazed by the number of people who came through her door during her three-day Christmas Open House. In fact, she said it was the best Christmas Open House she’s ever had in terms of both foot traffic and sales.
“We almost tripled what we did a year ago,” she said. “It was awesome.”
Although TC & More sold a lot of merchandise during its open house, don’t worry, the store is still well stocked with home decor items, clothing, purses, toys, jewelry, lots of fun gift items, and much more. New merchandise goes up every week, so Dillman encourages people to stop in often to check out the new, cool-looking items.
“I’m getting a huge shipment in today, Monday and Wednesday or Thursday,” Dillman said Friday morning. “I’ve got a lot more toys coming in as well as things like purses, soaps, and lotions.”
As a reminder, TC & More offers free gift wrapping. You can also find a coupon for 20% off any one regular-priced item at TC & More in the current issue of Nspire Today! magazine. The coupon is good through Nov. 30.

Steaks available at Goonies Sports Bar & Grill
Goonies Sports Bar & Grill in Scottsbluff is well known for its wings, Philly Cheesesteaks, award-winning burgers, and other fun food, and now they’re also serving steaks.
Their choices of steaks include a top sirloin strip platter, a New York strip platter, and a ribeye steak platter. Goonies began serving steaks about two weeks ago. Their steak platters come with a choice of two sides.
“We decided that we needed to start doing steaks because of where we’re located – we’re on Highway 26 around five hotels. So, of course, we get a lot of business people in town during the week, and a lot of them want steaks,” Goonies owner Paul Guhn said. “Before, we would have to send them to other places if they wanted a steak since we didn’t have steaks. But we recently went out and bought a 5-foot charbroiler, and since I believe I have three of the best grill cooks in our kitchen, we put steaks on the menu. Every time someone has ordered one of our three steaks, they said it was perfect. So, it’s been going very well.”
Guhn added, “We are a fun, family friendly sports restaurant with a bar,” he said. “We still take the utmost pride in our burgers, wings and Phillies, but now we’re also putting that love into our steaks.”
In addition to the steak platters, Goonies is also now offering a big serving of steak nachos for $16. Their steak nachos come with Goonies’ own blend of melted cheese, diced green onions, and chopped Jalapenos, and it’s loaded up with top sirloin steak.
“Our steak nachos have been a huge hit – they’re very good,” he said. “It’s been a good plus for us.”
Guhn said many people have been ordering just the steak nachos as their meal, and many people leave with leftovers because the steak nachos are so big.
“People will come in and say, ‘Hey, we’ve heard great things about your steak nachos. We want to give them a shot,’” Guhn said. “Really, for $16, it’s a meal for two. They’re really large.”
Guhn said the steak nachos come with 8 ounces of top sirloin steak, and for just an extra $3, Goonies will put an additional 4 ounces of top sirloin steak on the nachos.
“It’s a great deal,” Guhn said.
On another note, Goonies has a fantastic coupon in Nspire Today! magazine, offering a buy one meal at regular price and the get the second meal half off. Please note that the second meal must be at the same cash value, and the coupon doesn’t apply to daily specials or steaks.

Monica Dominguez of Scottsbluff is the executive housekeeper at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Scottsbluff. She started working there just two weeks after the hotel opened in 2001.
“I love the people I work with here,” she said. “I also love the atmosphere. I know I’m safe, and everyone is very friendly. Plus, I enjoy meeting different people every day.”
Dominguez describes the Hampton Inn & Suites as a “home away from home” for hotel guests.
“People will be welcomed here with a big, warm smile, and they’re going to come into a nice, clean room,” she said. “We’ll also serve them a nice [free] breakfast when they get up. That’s a big plus, and guests also enjoy our pool and the nice fitness center. We enjoy treating guests like they’re part of our family. They’re away from home, so we want to make them feel as comfortable as we can here, and we want them to leave happy.”
Another perk of staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites, Dominguez said, is that there’s a manager’s reception Monday through Thursday in the evenings featuring appetizers and drinks.
